The SelfTalk or GodTalk caller...

I'm kicking off the New Year with a very basic question which was posed to me and Greg on the radio show in a most poignant, clear and compelling way. At the end of 2007 David called in after listening to us for a while and made his assessments of us as individuals and how people try to make it in life. His question and suggestion (click the link to hear his call) has stayed with me over the past couple weeks as I've looked back over 2007 and into 2008. David wondered out loud with us whether we might be capable of managing life ourselves - "internally", rather than framing life through relationship with an "external" Being.

I appreciate David's call immensely because it really boils down what I'm up against in this world. Am I good to go without God, or will I go with God?

David wondered why seemingly fairly balanced individuals would resort to going it with God? In short, I know some of my own weakness enough to believe that being the kind, generous, loving and patient person I'd like to be is going to take a lot more than what I've got when I talk with myself. For me, it's going to take some God talk to make this self good.
